Four wheel drive stick position

Please don't think I am stupid when I ask this question for the second time. Now with both sticks forward I am in two wheel drive high, right. This means the front drive shaft should not be spinning in this position. With the left stick forward and the right stick pulled towards seat I am now in four wheel high and with both stick pulled towards seat I am in four wheel low.
If this is correct then I might be having a problem. With both sticks forward I can still see the drive shaft spinning.Shifting from 2nd to 3rd seems to be laboured as if the four wheel drive system is spinning up and developing some type of tension. This can't be normal I wouldn't think.
