Anybody know about Snap-on?

A local shop is going out of business and the owner offered me a Snap-on YA5550 for $500.00. It is heavy, something like 120lbs.
I went to the Snap-on site and it lists the current YA5550 selling for near $4,000.

I have read on several sites that the consumables for Ssnap-on are outrageous and that is what is keeping people from considering them.
