Here is a Webshots link to a GM 540, but they look the same. I have a 57 NP540 that I am putting in my 64 TWPW. The bell housings are usually drilled for the 3,4 and 5 speeds. 2-3 of the holes are the same as the 435. It's just a bolt in deal. The 540 input shaft is a bit shorter than the 435, so I may need an extented pilot bearing. You can also use a 12" clutch with the 318 Poly bellhousing. There is one of the TW guys that has a lot of photos of the conversion... I'll see if I can find a link. The splines of the input shaft is larger (1.38), but the pilot shaft is the same at .75". You need a 10 spline 1.38 clutch. Ya the ODs are very hard to find, but wanted closer ratios with the direct for towing.
