Since I had to go back and touch it up by hand anyhow. I though I did a nice job with the tape, but paint always bleeds under. I used 3M blue. Perhaps the auto body shops sell some fine line tape.
Next time, I'll use a good Grumbacher brush, thin the paint, and make on of those painter's support sticks* to steady my hand. Thinned oil paints flow out sooo good, brush strokes won't show.
*Must be a name for it, a 1/2" dowel with a 2" ball on the end. Tag end of dowel in left hand, the ball could roll across the tailgate, brush hand on the dowel for support. Keeps your fingers up out of the paint.
