I was away from my computer for a few days and had to do a lot of catching up on e-mails and the several Forums that I regularly visit.

Your primary question had to do with OFF TOPIC postings, and it seems you have made a decision. You say, “i am leaving this forum to run it course and pursue other interests.”(sic) Does that mean you will never post on this Forum again, or does it mean you will post but avoid all the off topic content?

I also cannot help wondering just how old you really are based on your command of the rules of capitalization and punctuation – but I learned mine as a first grade student in 1943, and in the United States so they may be different.

Because I invested some time and thought into these comments, I am posting them anyway – not directed at you specifically, but as a discussion of all the OFF TOPIC postings.

In 1995, I started publishing the Texas Power Wagon Journal as a hard copy news letter primarily to inform folks about Power Wagon activities in Texas. In about March 1999, I moved the Journal on line. I also paid to have the URL www.texaspowerwagon.com to make it easier for folks to get to my web site.

I was a regular visitor to Joe's terrific site because of my interest in Power Wagons and chose to stay with the news letter style so that I would not duplicate Joe’s efforts. I clearly did not want to “steal his thunder.”

Where the Journal content had been news of events and other items of local interest, I now began to share my limited knowledge about these trucks and expanded my content to include technical information.

At first I researched questions posted on the Forum or sent to me by e-mail and replied to each of them on an individual basis. When the same questions kept coming up, instead of answering them individually I started putting my responses in the Technical Support page on my Journal web site. I recently replaced the Technical Support page with “Frequently Asked Questions” and put them on the Main Page.

Because I had a number of trucks that I could examine – in addition to having $2700 worth of service manuals, Army Technical Manuals, military and civilian parts lists, and other Dodge truck references - I felt I had a great deal of useful information to share with others who were interested in these great old trucks. Because I had both the trucks and the references, I felt that it was appropriate to establish this extensive source of Power Wagon information as the Kempner Power Wagon Museum and announced it on the Dodge Power Wagon forum in early 2003.

The point I want to make is that many of the folks who visit Joe’s Dodge Power Wagon Page come here to receive and share information about the Power Wagon family of trucks and activities. I am just one more person who maintains a web site – and PAYS out of my pocket – to do it.

As a general rule, using any search engine for “Power Wagon” will bring you to this site - and to mine. I would suggest that searching for “John’s Problems” would not get you to this site. Using this site to establish your own “sub-site” without paying is not really fair. If you think your comments have any merit, then dignify them by establishing the “Unhappy John” web site – AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. This would let everyone WHO CARES get to your site by using a search engine for “Unhappy John”.

Because I am aware that OT posts cost Joe and create a major distraction for the rest of us who have RELEVANT questions or comments, I can only suggest you answer you question with “How would a courteous, SHARING person handle this situation.
