The oaks are more rot resistant.
Yellow pine would be good, walnut OK, Cypress looks woody too. Fir would be too splintery as it ages. Hickory might be good too, very hard.
Or maybe some of those composites? Rot resistant fersure.
I think I would stay away from Philipine Mahogany and Apitong, too splintery as they age.
