I use anything that's government issue.

I buy US WW2 GI stuff any time I find it, and for daily use a British Army 5 ton bottle jack. I use GI grease guns, air pressure gauges, and spanners (that's wrenches to you) every time I'm in the garage. I have a sub-hobby of collecting the appropriate tools and equipment as issued with our trucks from the factory.

I can buy this stuff for a few £ (read $10 US) at any of the vehicle shows I go to, and I see no reason to buy modern c!"p at all when I can get cheap 70 year old stuff that was well made and will certainly outlast me.

My garage compressor is the same age, might be needing some attention to the motor soon, but that's about it.

For power tools I buy BOSCH for preference, as all the "British" stuff I'm offered is Chinese re-branded.

I have to be fair here and say that the Chinese stuff can be really good value for money, in that the power tools cost under US$ 30 for a 1/2" drill or a grinder. The problem seems to be that some dealers are buying the stuff at these prices and then trying to palm it off onto buyers as quality full-priced material.

If you find good quality US-made equipment relevant to our trucks just post it here with a recommendation if Joe's OK with that?

relly beginning to sound my age - will stop while I'm ahead 8~)
