Ok guys...As promised the wife and I visited the 1959 Power Giant for sale in Springfield, Virginia. Here is the story.
The truck was built in 1959 (W300), but titled as a 1960. It firsts served in the Fairfax County, Virginia Fire Department (Burke Station) before semi-retiring to Lake of the Woods Vol. Fire Department in Orange County, Virginia. After full retirement, the current owner picked it up at auction.
The serial number is 2360117908. Rear axle rating of 7500lbs (4.8). Front Axle of 4500 lbs. Spicer 70. Braden 12K winch mounted on rear. 500 gpm pump on front.
Owner says it still runs great. Very little rust. Fenders, doors, etc all in tact with no rust. Tires good. Owner "thinks" it has a 251 engine. 4 Speed tranny.
When I was but a wee lad I used to drive this truck on brush/woods fires. It was a beast. As expected, it has no power steering.
The owner has had the rig for several years but has "lost interest". He hopes to get 10-11 K., but is open to offers.
