Hi Sam,
You have an electric gauge, which is correct for your truck. There should be an electric sending unit, on the drivers side, rear of the head. It will be screwed into a pipe reducer.
If you had a mechanical gauge the tube is integral with the gauge and is filled with a fluid that expands with the heat and moves your needle. A bit more involved than "run a piece of tube to your gauge"
