Im very sorry to hear about your niece. I am a flight nurse on a rescue medical helicopter, one night we hit a goose at 120 knots. He skidded off the top of the windshield and took out the cowling just below the rotor system. We made an emergency run-on landing but no one was hurt. Did have to change my flight suite, however.
