I have a 5 speed in my 99 Dodge diesel but my work van a 96 Dodge 3500 with a 360 and 4:10 gears with I believe is the same automatic with OD , hunts between Od and 3rd on hills, I only lock it out when it gets to annoying. ( note truck is fully loaded all the time) I have 67,000 miles on it with no tranny problems yet( knock on wood) but have heard they usually go around 60k . I change the fluid and filter every 30k and adjust the bands. There is a kit from direct connection that provides more fluid to the OD. that seems to be the weak link.
