Yes the NP-203 can be damaged by driving in the lock position for extended distance. The early NP-203's had a machined carrier, on the later NP-203's this was replaced with a stamped steel unit with much lighter locking teeth. When driving for extended time these teeth will wear out so lock no longer works. Bill
