My error, in my post below, is stating the WC-14 has the 230 engine. I simply misread the line and used the info from the line below. Doh!

The military manuals and other cross references make no mention of the Plymouth 217 engine in the WC-14. That's quite interesting, and sheds some real light on this issue. Engineering code T-211 is used, which clearly indicates a 217. Is the Plymouth block stamped T-211?

Your error is stating the WC-12 had the 217 engine.

In reality, we are both right and wrong. WC-12's AFTER engine number 42001 have the 230. Those prior to that have the 217. I don't know how far into the production numbers this equates to, since I have yet to find data cross referencing chassis serial numbers to engine numbers. The engineering code for all WC-12's is still T-211, at least in the reference sheets. Indeed, TM9-2800 shows T-207 and T-211 only for the closed cab 1/2 ton pickup, despite making mention of the change at engine 42001, and no mention at all of the later trucks, such as WC-40 (T-215). Technically, those engines after 42001 should be engineering code T-215, and should be stamped thus on the block.
