About 7 years ago I bought my '48 from a guy that was going to restore it. After 10 years of minimal use and sitting, it ran, but no brakes etc. So I opened the hood to put a donor battery in it, and heard what I thought was a feeble sound from the horn. Nope, It was a massive nest of bees that took up residence under there. Never thought I could run so fast!

We drove into town and bought two of those "squirts 20 feet" cans of bug killer.

I emptied one through the hood louvers and the hood gaps, while my buddy squirted up from below.
Again we ran. We waited an hour in a restaraunt before returning. Then it was a real treat driving it up a tilt trailer which wouldn't tilt back down and trying to hold the thing there with with no brakes.

It wasn't mouse piss, but it did smell like hell when that bug spray started burning off the manifold. And it smelled like that for a couple of months.

The rest is pleasant history. Loaded her up with firewood today and schlepped it 30 miles to my brothers for those nifty beer ambience fires at his lake home. Got a few of the expected thumbs up as I drove, and the rare finger from one. Was it that I was flying along at 42 mph in a 55? Or the bumper sticker?
"This truck runs over Liberals, Lawyers, and other Parasites"

Love my fossil!
