Sounds like a neat truck. Most if not all military or gov't trucks will carry an additional data tag, likely found on the dashboard.
Repost your VIN, you have 1 too many numbers listed - if the sequence# is 524617, your truck is a 1966. Does it have push button or pull type door handles.
2 = # of driving axles
3 = 1 ton
8 = eng # of cyl
1 = Warren Plant
or
7 = Missouri Plant
