Why a 77 and why a 1/2ton? I would try to go with an earlier 3/4ton or 1 ton. The short wheelbase of the 1/2 ton is not as stable while towing not to mention the weak drivetrain. An earlier truck would have less smog and the same body style. You could get a full floating Dana 60 and a 205 transfercase with hubs (instead of full time)if you go with an earlier part-time version. Depending on how much you want to pay I may have one you could be interested in. It's in Thousand Oaks CA. It's a 74 3/4ton with an early 440 (best of everything) 435 4speed, 205 part time transfercase, and a Dana 60. 4 wheel disc brakes, rear posi, front locker, 5" lift and 35" tires. I built it for for towing my racecar and off roading. I haven't thought of selling it until now. The body is kinda rough but the drivetrain is excellent and it will send a new Mustang home crying.
