The only experience I have with the issue is with a friends 41 Chevy truck he just finished restoring from the ground up. After the rebuild, he used detergent oil in it and threw a rod bearing shortly after. Upon warranty inspection, the mechanic summized that the detergent oil caused the babbit bearings to fail. I don't know if that was true or not, but my friend took no chances and swapped in a late model six from a Camaro, and is still driving the truck nearly 10 years later.
