OK, according to the book, the master cylinder pushrod should be adjusted so there is 1/4 to 3/8 inch freeplay measured AT THE PEDAL. I didn't mean to yell, I'm just capitalizing for emphasis. That means there would be a wee bit of free play at the master cylinder. You can find the master cylinder under the left side of the truck. This may vary with the model but it should be connected to the brake pedal via the linkages.
