This is a question about a different truck engine swap than my question below. This question is concerning a 1966 Dodge 4wd LWB. I didn't want to confuse the issue on the last post, so that's why a new post. My cousin has a 66 4wd that has been sitting for about 25 years. It had a 318, or maybe 360, in it. They took that engine out and installed a 340 Cuda ( or a 340 of some year). Yes, wrong engine for a big 3/4 or 1-ton pickup. They want to take out the 340 and put it in a Jeep for hill climbing and dune racing (along with other modifications). Then they want to put a 440 in the 66. There is a four speed manual in the 66 right now, which, I believe was stock in the original truck. I wasn't there when they put it in, so I don't know the details. If I understand correctly, that might be a 435 (?) or what.....? If I read is correctly, this site says all that is needed is the proper bellhousing to mount the four speed to the 440. Will the existing stock driveline be ok, or what do you recommend? For that 66 is there anything else to watch for and prepare for? I have been told the suspension/shock setup on that year is kinda wierd. Is that true.? How hard is it to lift it, if we decide to. What method or brand of springs, etc. do you all recommend for this truck? Thanks again. RossThis is a question about a different truck engine swap than my question below.
