Why would you want it lighter? 4x4 or not, wouldn't it be safer if it were the same weight, if not more?
I don't know the exact weight, but two people had a difficult, though not impossible time of removing my 8' box, so I'd guess 4-500 lbs. The tailgate is about 50 lbs.
