Hydro (aka electricity) is the obvious target. Dams and power plants are well-defended, substations securely fenced, and transmission lines are completely vulnerable. Still, they're too obvious of a target and too robust. Must of the internet and cell system is far more fragile. Look at how addicted to instant communication young people are today. They'd go nuts if their bluetooths and blackberries quit. All in all, though, a "war" between the US and China will be economic, not a shooting war. As I said, we're already at a state of mutual assured destruction, economically. Any shooting would just lead to an embargo on trade and credit, which would wreck the economies of both countries far quicker and easier than any conventional warfare would. The reason we bombed Germany in WWII was to stop their industrial production so they couldn't make what they needed to fight the war. Suppose they had been buying most of their manufactured goods from the US prior to the war, rather than making them themselves? Or supposed they'd been financing their military buildup by borrowing money from the US? We wouldn't have needed to drop a single bomb. Just cut off all economic connections and they'd have nothing to fight with.
