It's those Yurropeens again...

The irony in charging up a green car from a coal-fired plant isn't lost on us. Here in Scotland we have one nuclear plant left (I think) and we are a bit far north for solar to be very cost effective, but we do have a whole pile of hydro power plants and wind turbines that are carbon-neutral. Government has just pretty much removed planning restrictions for people who want to add wind turbines to their property for their own use, with excess generation metered back into the grid (you get a cheque from the power company and not the other way round)

Electrics and hybrids do work (there's an electric Smart out there for Norm...) but not a lot of use for large heavy vehicles like the majority of Dodges.

You can chop up the Carbon talk stuff any number of ways, though. If I decided to put my 1939 Dodge pickup on the road I'd have to pay insurance but my road tax would be free. It was made nearly seventy years agao, so the Carbon costs in the production of it could be written down over that period - how many modern vehicles will run seventy years?

I'll recycle the used batteries, tyres, and engine oil, set it up to be as fuel-efficient as it can be, and run it on unleaded. As a small vehicle running light on cross-ply tyres and with a four speed box I'd hope to get 20 mpg out of it unloaded.

Go green - run an old Dodge truck
