Putting the 96 Cummins in the 06 would make more sense!
What possible reason would you want to switch to an 06 motor?
The only advantage is engine noise. The 96 is superior in every other department. $1000 in mods would give the 96 Cummins more power than you'll be getting out of that 06.
physically the 96 will fit & making the 06 run isn't difficult but there are electronic issues.
