Howdy Paul, I'm driving a '97 F250 w/ 7.3 w/ 175k. Its a good engine/transmission with a qualifying statement. I have replaced almost everything on the front end of the engine---alternator, vacuum pump x2,tensioner x2, ps pump. It now needs a AC compressor but I'm in no hurry at the moment----. The E40D is a good transmission with a rebuild. The factory built them with aluminum planitarys and thats a weak point. I know a fellow who owns a transmission shop in Los Anchorage who specializes in them and he rebuilds them to withstand the power w/ a chip and exhaust. I'm thinking of going that route. You may have a manual? Overall I think its a good setup------especially a one ton. I've had the 3/4 ton 4wd front end rebuilt twice too. Another weak point. Happy motoring. John
