Only refinery here in Kansas that is closed is Coffeyville...hard to operate when you are underwater.Every refinery in the U.S is operating at full capacity because they have to.Take a look around you; there are at least twice as many cars on the road as when the peanut farmer was President.How many more refineries are there?We all want cheap fuel prices and, until recently, we have had them.I didn't hear too much about the evil oil business throughout the nineties when oil was below $50 and they were losing money and closing wells and exploration.Compare the price of a gallon of gas over the last 30 years against almost anything else and you'll see that it pales in comparison.Education? Health care?Wheat?Corn?Bottled water?Coffee?
TAXES?I happen to agree with you about the negative aspects of traders pushing up the price, but just wait...the market works.(see Mortgage Backed Securities)
