I dont buy into the no new oil refineries have been built since 1976 as a reason. It may be true they havent built any but using that excuse that they dont have enough refinery capacity is BS deluxe. There are several refineries within probably a 2 hour drive from me in Kansas that have been shut down. If the company was truely interested in refining oil to sell as various fuels these refineries would be open.They would have been kept up and upgraded to meet the business needs of the future.
The various bio fuels was a good idea until like you said the raw material prices went thru the roof. We will see a drop in th ethanol business in the next few years I would imagine.
