In the early seventies my car(cadilac) got 8 to 10 miles to the gallon >in the eighties my wagon got 20 mpg> now i drive mini van and get 25mpg >so even if you doubled the amount of the cars on the road they get twice the average milage of the seventies>ditto here on home heating oil seventies were 45 cents the eighties 65 cents a gallon, today 4$ a gallon .those old furnaces wer nothing more than smudge pots with a little more than a flickering flame>todays high efficient get almost 2/3 more heat out of a gallon than 30 years ago > i have no access to how much oil we consume >but in my mind i think i use a lot less than i did 30 years ago can you say the same >same in the trucking industry old iron in the seventys were getting 4 to 5 mpg now new trucks almost double that >what is going on in the oil industry J
