Here is a picture of the "channel" (spam blocker won't allow the actual word).
Really amazing engineering feat.
Our battleships can only get by now with one foot to spare on each side. Panama is planning on building a third parallel channel to allow the jumbo ships through.
The little tractor like vehicles move the ships. Why couldn't they use the mighty power wagons?! Probably 4 could do it, right?
