I just installed Langdons HEI unit on my truck yesterday morning and it works like a champ. I used his distributer and coil and installed the distributer 180 degrees off from the original because the vacuum advance was right in the way of the breather. Maybe you are limited by the adjustment and that is what is giving you trouble. Other than that, the distributer is working just fine and has plenty of room for adjustment.
