1. Does the 1/2 ton require adjusting the preload on the pinnion first. Should be about 15-20 inch pounds without the seal installed.

2. To test the preload on the carrier, you have to make a tool using flat stock (width of axle/thickness of spline) welded to an extention for 3/8 or 1/4 torque wrench, depending what you are using, to insert into side gear. You have to use a screw driver to lock the spider gears, then turn the carrier to determine bearing preload.

3. If the 1/2 ton has a thrust pad, you have to adjust that as well.

4. Carrier bearing caps use 120 feet pounds, not sure what the half ton uses.

5. There is no teeth mesh checking on the 3/4 ton, not sure on the half ton.
