Well, I actually have owned two, an 8,000 and now a 10,000.

The 8,000 was stolen off my trailer. It was on for 2 years with no problems.

Have had the 10,000 for about a year and also with no problems.

Yes, they're made in China.

Also, Harbor Freight will extend the warrantee for 3 years full replacement - no questions asked.

Unfortunately, I was not in a position to spend $800 for the same Warn or I would have. The insurance replaced it when it was stolen so I just bought the larger one on sale for the same price.

I use it on my car trailer every now and again. It seems very strong and I'm not using a snatch block with it.

I bought it on the recommendation of a guy who has a towing business that uses them on all of his flatbeds. He told me they beat on them daily and they will live for about 3 years then they need to be replaced. But, he also said that he used to buy Warn winches and they didn't last any longer and that he'd actually had better luck with the Harbor Freight units.

Based on that, and my meager budget, I bought one...

So far, so good.

Note, I typically try to buy as much made in USA stuff as I'm able. But in this case, as mentioned above, I flat didn't have the money and for $300 I thought that I'd take a chance.

Let the flames begin...

Steve
