May I suggest getting a dial indicator and magnetic base and a bending beam inch pound torque wrench. I have just completed assembly of 4 differentials with lockers and 2 with a gear change to 4.89's
In my opinion, there is no way to be sure lash and preload is correct without following a total factory manual setup. Once again, my opinion, resetting the bearing adjusters to the original position is meaningless, to many variables.
