The 4BT, in a 5,000 lb vehicle with 4.10 gears can get (much depends upon driving style) in the low to mid 30 mpg's.
A 6BT in the same vehicle is 17-23 mpg depending upon what "Generation" it is.

I didn't think that the 6.5 had any relationship to the 6.2?
The shortcomings of the 6.2 is the one weakness of the Humvee. If AMC had hung onto AM General 6 more months, it would have been a part of the Chrysler purchase and those big Jeeps could have been equipped with the 6BT Cummins...that would be a vehicle!
I've caravaned with Hummer's and they don't get any better fuel economy than my AMC 4.2 six gasser, which is pretty poor...
