Scary indeed. If you needed to slam on the brakes... <ouch@!>. But, I'm sure many of us have been there (me included); not sure how many will admit it though.
I did a flat-tow of my '48 PW with my CJ7!... twice - yep. Scared the @#$&%@ out of me each time. Absolutely! Both too light AND too short! Stupid? Yes.
The last time I did it I got home safe and said "No more", ever! A risk to others and me I'm sure - stupid really, as I look back on it. Did it at 2am to make sure most were not on the road. Luckily the PW behaved, didn't wander or anything. But I did make sure the tow-bar was level between the two vehicles so that it would push me and not climb or tunnel over/under me.
The one amusing thing is that the AZ Highway patrol actually stopped me, and nothing came of it. I got pulled-over mainly due to poor brake lighting. The officer was quite a bit younger than me (late 20's, early 30's I'm sure). He was so in awe of the Power Wagon that he let me go as long as I took it off the highway. "Wow, what is that thing?". “What year is it?”. True story.
Sorry to rattle-on. Please don't take this the wrong-way. No room to advise or lecture of course. But your picture sure brought back some "Scary" memories.
