If you did you would need to change the pistons to forged as well.. the flat head is a low rpm engine for a few reasons, the stroke is 4 & 5/8 inches!! The crank shaft can handle it it is forged and very very strong but it is very heavy, one guy can barely install a 230 crank alone. the combustion chanmber designs inherently makes it so cannot handle the high compression ratios of a higher revvinng OHV engine. the rods on a 230 are offset to make the engine shorter and can bend at high RPMS or an old racer told me her used to rip the pistons in half at the drag strip if he over revved his 230. I think you could do turbo but do it like you mentioned and desing it to work at low RPMs.
