W1 vs 150. Monkey see monkey do. Ford w/ it's marketing genius called their "1/2" ton 150.Starting early 77 model year about Dec all Dodge "1/2" w/ 6100 gvw became 150s. Less than 6100 gvw(gross vehicle weight) required cat convertors & other smog devices. Either went by the term "1/2" ton, not a good term but a name.
There were no 5/8 tons.
If your 78 is 6100 gvw it is a W150! The gvw should be posted on the door & tag under the hood.
