In New Haven, Ct, there is a towing service on the east side of the river. Fountains Garage, off of Forbes Ave... In the 70's I recall Fountains had a GMC wrecker just like that.. There used to be a GMC truck dealership on Forbes Ave. I had an great uncle that was a salesman there. When my 58 y.o. brother was a kid in the 50's dad would take him there to see Uncle Al, and my brother got to play in the rigs just like those kids. I still have many of the GMC truck sales catalogs from that dealership from around 53-56 that my brother was given as a kid. They have b&w photos and nice detailed colored drawings of the rigs... Also, does anyone remember the tv show Cannonball, about the over the road truckers that drove a GMC like that, except it was a cabover ? BTW,Fountains Garages rigs color scheme was Black and White. Anyone know if Fountains is still in business ?
