Does anyone remember Bill Evoy(Ehvoy sp?). Bills's claim to fame, was his unique ability to weld cast iron. He was well known across the country for welding manifolds, and engine blocks.
Bill used a little home made buzz box, that ran on 120 volts, using his own welding rods.
When he finnished his welding, he would stop to pick up the small pieces of his rods, so know one could find out the metallurgical composition of the rods.
He arranged jobs about three weeks ahead, and traveled across the country welding. The last time he welded cast for me was in 1977, and he was about 60 years old.
At that time, he welded a Mack block, and a slant six for me, So that would make him about 90 years old. I was wondering if anyone was fortunate enough to share Bill's secrets, or will his process remain a secret forever?
Bill's welds always held. He was not cheap, but he was a legend.
