boys boys boys you are testing my patience IN THEORY KINENTIC FRICTION IS BETTER THAN STATIC remember that! if you drive a vehicle and apply the brakes(to maximum pressure) at a high speed ....and the brakes are all in good working order there should NOT be a skid mark! sounds strange but true too fact. brakes in exellent working order should not skid on the pavement. the ENERGY ie speed of the vehicle should be transformed into heat at the brake lining/drum or disc hence kenetic... if wheels are skidding on the pavement that is static energy it takes longer to stop when tires are skidding, than if the brakes are turning the motion of the vehicle in to heat... example take anti lock brakes you cant stop in shorter distance with abs and no skidding of the tires and maintain control of the vehicle. what causes brakes to lock up are caused by a number of issuses too many to go into here but the brake proportion valve BALANCES out the front rear brakes, and even on late model vehicles raising suspenions changing tire sizes alter the engineered setting built in to the computers. i see on some light trucks now theres adjustments that are measured by computer in relation to the distance of the frame to axle height and relate this info to the computers braking system to change the pressures front/rear
