The thing is that it's not just a matter of what engine it has. Probably more important to the tour is how attractive the appearance is, how many passengers it seats, whether it can be opened to the air on nice days, whether we'll need to repaint it, and other things like that. Since we're not buying it new (new trolleys are around $150,000) it's not like we can pick and choose which engine, which tranny, which seating configuration, which paint scheme, etc.

Since all the rigs we're considering have either a 427 or a 3208, I just wanted to find out if either engine was known to be a real dog, in case that would rule out one trolley or another. Nothing has a Cummins in it. It sounds like some folks have definitely had some bad experience with the 3208, and others think it's fine. It might be a case of whether or not you happen to get a good one.
