I would bet it was rocks that took them out. I lost some with my factory bumper/lights. I now have a Buckstop bumper with lights recessed. These lights are about 4 times the cost of the lights that came in the truck. I found some heavy galvanized wire mesh with 1/2" squares at Home Depot and cut pieces to fit in front of the lights. No more rock damage so far. You can't see the wire mesh in the picture, but you can get the idea.
