Not to toos gas on the fire, but I think you missed the most important issue. When you are driving at any reasonable speed, the air flow through the rad is adequate to cool. The fan spinning only drags power from the engine. The electrics only spin when the air flow is reduced, like when you're stopped at a light. I learned this lesson with my 56, I thought if a 4 blade was good, a six blade fron an industrial woud be better. I could idle that truck forever on a 90 deg day, never ran hot in a parade. One day my belt broke, and the power jump was instant and VERY noticeable.
