we have been using ford Taurus fans for a while now.low speed will easily cool a 6 cylinder. the can be got around here for $15 at the junk yards. the best thing is that they fit on a wm3oo perfectly.there are two 1" tabs on one side of the electric fan shroud that have to be trimmed with snips and it fits right in there. 4 sheet metal screw going sideways . it is even not the loud in there.as for the extra horsepower verses efficiency i have been using one for years and you can tell by driving your truck you have more power. i think the reason is at idle you are probably taking more energy to run the alternator but at higher rpms the load reduces on the alternator but gains on the engine driven fan. also they do make electric water pumps
