Up-to-serial# 80009427 uses sending unit FSN# 7728851, after serial# 800009428 uses sending unit FSN# 7389566
The one sent to you is probably for the 230 Toronado engine used in the M715 or one used on a different truck.
I don't recommend you use fitting to make the one you have work. It creates a hot spot that will give you higher temperature readings. Don't recommend you drill the head out, because that sending unit may not give the correct ohms for the guage you're using.
I would call and have them send you a correct one.
