Would work fine, as long as you stayed with a bypass spin on. Regular full flow remote mount filters are rated about 40 micron, by-pass filters are normally 10 micron. Napa/Wix has a filter and base that would do the trick, the only difference being the spin on has no internal bypass valve to allow oil to flow thru when the filter gets plugged. The original PW canisters have the internal bypass valve. Not a really big deal if you plug a filter....the oiling system of a flathead won't know the difference. The Napa 1050 sells for about $7.99 and the base is $35.50.
