I just came in from the cold. Nice to work on a warm engine.

Anyhow, with the cap removed, so no pressure from that. Idled at 2 psi on high idle, drops to 1 psi once choke knob pushed in. It had already been around the block, so was warmed up. Made 10 psi when revved. Let it warm some more, to make sure the thermo was opened. Temp gauge was stable. Still makes 10 psi hot and revved.

I lack any way to presuerize my radiator, my pressure tester doesn't fit the radiator cap seat. But rad pressure ought to add to the block pressure, for a total of 17 psi max with a 7 pound cap.

You too can make a fitting and test it your self. I used a 3/8 coarse threaded stud, drilled a hole through it, clamped some fuel hose on, and a gauge on to the other end. Screw it in to the vent plug that is a 3/8 bolt over #5 cylinder.

10 psi should not be enough to push a well-seated core plug out. With 2sq/in of area, that is only 20 pounds of push against the core plug.

Those old plugs were not very tight. Popped right out with a slide hammer. New steel ones were a PITA, so tight going in. The one new brass one was easier, but still needed some effort. I'll keep a couple brass ones on board for emergencies.
