Jim, the block you don't want is a 53 block. There is a casting number on the drivers side located above the pan in the front area. Please check the TDR site for more info.As Jerry said the 12 valves are simply to boost if that is what you want.Other than the 53 block the 5.9 are pretty much bullit proof. High mileage shouldn't scare you as most of the 5.9 are know for going the distance. Dan H
