I bought an early '98 Ram CTD about 3 months ago with 130k on it. The advantage of the early '98 engine is they are the 12 valve and are almost totally mechanical. You can do some pretty cheap and simple modificatins to the injector pump to gain more power. The only serious flaw I know of is a block weakness in some of the last 12 valves and many of the 24 valves.
