Well truck is backfiring and runs kind of sick.

Last time I took our Power Wagon out it ran well the first fifteen minutes, but when we started to get further away from home it started to run worse. (I know she wants to stay in her nice warm and dry garage!!!) Lets see she backfires through the carb hard enough to blow the air cleaner off. Ah I think she has a cold! During acceleration it back fires especially going up hills under a load. Normal driving on flat land kind of runs rough but will clear out but gets horrible gas mileage. Shoot first time I ran out of gas in 7 years of ownership of the old girl! I did a tune up on her two years ago but I don't think I have more than 2500 miles on her since I did the tune up. Dirty carb? Bad Plugs? Timing? Original engine not sure if something going south? Ideas?
