We had just about given up getting my dad's MF compact diesel tractor started. He had neglected it due to his old-timer's. We filled the radiator which was dry, replaced the starter/heater switch, glow lamp, and one of the glow plugs that was bad. Still no power at the glow plugs. We hot-wired the glow plugs and jumped the starter motor and checked for fuel at the injector pump nozzles - nothing.

We knew it had an electrical problem and a fuel problem but couldn't isolate either one. We were about to have it trailered to a tractor shop when Earl Huff, a PW buddy and deisel mechanic, said he'd take a look at it.

Turns out it had a bad transmission nuetral safety switch, the starter was wired wrong and the fuel injector pump bowl was dry. Earl rewired the starter, bypassed the safety switch (temporarily), bled the fuel pump bowl and had it running by the time I got there. We just need to replace the safety switch and we will be ready to plow the driveway for the next snow storm. Not sure if dad can remember how to drive it, so it may be me plowing.

Of course Earl wouldn't take any money from my dad. But I just happened to have a clean pair of the correct window division bars Earl needed for his PW in my barn. Funny how things work out. I guess "The Great Pow Wag" was smiling down on us all.

Score another one for the PW family!
